Our President & CEO, Mr. Fahad Abunayyan, had the honor of leading the Saudi Equestrian & Polo Federation delegation representing the Saudi National Polo Team at the 6th edition of His Majesty King Mohammed VI International Polo Trophy in Rabat, Morocco. Held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the prestigious tournament took place from May 4 to May 10, 2026, across Rabat and Assilah, bringing together six national teams: Morocco, Saudi Arabia, the United States, France, Portugal, and Hungary.
The opening ceremony, hosted at the Royal Guard Polo Club in Souissi, Rabat, welcomed distinguished dignitaries, international players, and polo enthusiasts, celebrating the heritage, excellence, and continued growth of the sport. Throughout the week, the tournament showcased world-class competition while reinforcing Morocco’s position as one of the leading destinations for international polo.
The Saudi National Polo Team delivered an impressive performance throughout the competition, demonstrating determination and skill against some of the world’s strongest teams. The team secured an important victory over the Hungarian National Polo Team at the Patrick Guerrand-Hermès Polo Club (PGH La Palmeraie) to claim fifth place, while also delivering highly competitive performances against both the United States and French national teams.
Mr. Fahad Abunayyan emphasized the importance of participating in international tournaments as part of the Saudi Equestrian & Polo Federation’s long-term vision to strengthen the capabilities of the Saudi National Polo Team. Such competitions provide invaluable experience for the Kingdom’s young players, who continue to demonstrate their talent, dedication, and growing potential on the international stage.
The championship concluded at the Royal Guard Polo Club in Souissi, Rabat, where the Kingdom of Morocco claimed the tournament title with an impressive 9–5 victory over the United States in the grand final. Played before a distinguished audience of dignitaries, government officials, polo enthusiasts, and international guests, the final showcased exceptional horsemanship, sportsmanship, and the continued development of polo across the region.
Organized by the Royal Moroccan Polo Federation, the week-long tournament served as an important platform for strengthening international sporting and cultural ties while highlighting Morocco’s world-class infrastructure, outstanding hospitality, and commitment to the growth of polo. The event further reinforced the strong relationship between participating nations and reflected the shared ambition to elevate the sport on the global stage.
