The AlUla Desert Polo Cup 2026 concluded in spectacular fashion, marking another milestone in Saudi Arabia’s growing international sporting calendar and reinforcing AlUla as a world-class destination for elite sports and cultural experiences.
Our President & CEO, Mr. Fahad Abunayyan, attended the event in his capacity as Vice Chairman of the Saudi Equestrian & Polo Federation, where the tournament brought together world-class players and distinguished guests from across the globe. This year’s edition proudly featured emerging Saudi talent, including Prince Salman bin Mansour Al Saud and Faisal bin Fahad Abunayyan, reflecting the Kingdom’s commitment to developing future generations of polo players.
The event also welcomed leading international figures such as Ignacio “Nacho” Figueras, Pablo Mac Donough, David Stirling, Naveen Jindal, Jenny Luttrell, and Prince Eugen zu Oettingen, further enhancing the tournament’s global prestige. The final saw Team Defender crowned champions following a thrilling 9–8 victory over Team AlUla.
Organized by the Royal Commission for AlUla, led by Abeer AlAkel, the event showcased a unique blend of elite sport, cultural heritage, and premium hospitality. Mr. Fahad also expressed his appreciation to all organizers and partners, including Marco Villasboa Lanusse of La Dolfina Polo Club, and the Saudi Equestrian & Polo Federation team, for delivering a world-class tournament aligned with the Kingdom’s long-term cultural and tourism ambitions.
